Do you know what it takes to create an Instagram-worthy photo of food? Join Yelp Indy on May 2 for a night of beautiful photos from the Yelp Indy community on display next to delicious eats from local restaurants at a hip new location.
I don’t know if you have noticed, but I take a lot of photos of food. It kind of comes with the blog, you know, in that I need to provide visuals for you to see how a dish is created or served. Maybe it’s because I’m a visual learner, but I’m also drawn to photos, so I enjoy taking the time to craft a photo that makes you want to eat your browser.
I may or may not have done one or more of these things in public…
1) Held up the line at a food tasting event, where the people behind me laugh as I crouch down or balance on one food to get the right angle
2) Had the pleasure of biting into stone cold food because I took so long to photograph it
3) Asked people to let me photograph the appetizer before we all grabbed a piece
4) Asked a chef to stop what they were doing (because you know, they’re not busy or anything……) to give me a 15-second Instagram video spiel about their food
5) Rearranged someone else’s plate to get the right composition
But hey, I do it all with a smile!
And that’s where Yelp comes in. Luckily when I’m at a Yelp sponsored event, I know that it’s OK to do all of those things because it is encouraged! We Yelpers are hungry consumers of not only the food but the desire to share our experiences with food with others through photos and reviews.
On Friday, May 2, Yelp’s Bold and Beautiful Party will get underway at Artistry Apartments, a brand new community that’s finishing renovations on Market Street.
Yelpers have submitted their favorite food photos to the Yelp event for a chance to be featured during the event. But that’s not all because Yelp events are not complete without food and drinks! Dozens of local restaurants, wineries, breweries, coffee roasters, tea brewers and other retail businesses will be present with samples that represent who they are. Food stylists and even a pop up painting class will be available to complete the art meets food theme. I’m really looking forward to eats from Severin Bar, Cerulean, Husk, Delicia and so many more! My buds Sage’s Simple Syrups will be there along with Flat 12, Dry Soda and New Day Meadery just to name a few.
Trust me, you don’t want to miss this FREE event. Never been to a Yelp event? Just read my reviews of these past experiences to get a taste of what to expect:
