Are you ready for four days of a fashion, film and food celebration in Indianapolis? Tanjerine aims to foster creativity from emerging and established talented individuals who dedicate their time to making Indianapolis a energetic and inspired space.
Tanjerine was created by the people behind Oranje, a similar creative event that occurs in the Fall. Rahul and I have attended Oranje for 3 years, twice when it was at a north downtown warehouse and once when it was at the fairgrounds. Tanjerine was inspired by Oranje in that it mimics the creative vibes but switches out fine art and multiple music acts for fashion and food.
Naturally, I had to know more.

Tanjerine takes place over FOUR days instead of one, all building up to a finale event on Saturday. These specialty events breakdown like this:
Wednesday, April 16th: Craft Cocktail Bartending Competition & Film Lounge (7pm-Midnight)
Thursday, April 17th: Beer Tapping & Gourmet Row. Also featuring a very special screening of the Sriracha Movie by Griffin Hammond (7pm-Midnight)
Friday, April 18th: Fashion Preview Night & Shoppers Row (7pm-Midnight)
Saturday, April 19th: Tanjerine 2014 (7pm-Midnight)
Each of the four events are at The Sanctuary on Penn, a historic building with wooden floors, brick walls and a lot of character. Rahul and I went to a Halloween event held by Yelp at that venue and it was especially spooky.
Events will feature fashion, film and food through vendors, samplings, displays and demonstrations. Local fashion designers, chefs, brewers, bartenders, restaurants, filmmakers, models and other creators will be present so you can learn about how these creative folks are spearheading projects that are shaping the way Indianapolis is seen by visitors and residents.
Tanjerine will also feature a fashion boutique, craft beers, specialty cocktails, a test kitchen, video projections, interactive exhibits, food trucks and live DJ’s to provide an experience that intrigues all of your senses in one swoop.
I’ll be attending Thursday’s event, which includes vendors such as…
3 Days in Paris, a specialty crepe shop in City Market
Kei Tea, a loose leaf tea company
Three Carrots, a not yet open vegetarian and vegan restaurant
Lick Ice Cream, a local company that offers unfathomably unique ice cream flavors
Outliers Bewing Company, a recently opened brewery in Indianapolis
and several more.
There’s also a #ShowUsYourMidwest Contest where Tanjerine and Upland Brewing Company teamed up encourage people to Instagram what the Midwest means to them. Submissions are asked to answer the questions of: What makes our culture so unique and special? What do you do in your town that you can’t do anywhere else? Why do you love this place and its people? How do you celebrate and why? Add your submission by April 12 to be featured at Tanjerine on Saturday, April 19. Entries will be voted on by the audience and two winners will receive a prize pack that includes two tickets to ORANJE 2014, a $150 Upland gift card and an Upland merch pack. Third and fourth place winners will each receive one ticket to ORANJE and a $50 Upland gift card.
Interested in attending Tanjerine yet? Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite with a great deal of $35.00 for admission into all four days.
