Well, by the name Russian Mule, I think, most of the people will say that this recipe belongs to Russia. But, to your surprise, let the Russian Mule is not something which was discovered in Russia, but in fact, in Manhattan. The discovery of Russian Mule took place in 1941. Now, from here the story starts. The main characters of this story are- John A. Morgan, the president of Cock ‘n’ Bull products (whose ginger beer is famous in the world), John G. Martin, the president of G.F. Heublein Brothers Inc.(whose food and alcoholic beverages was famous throughout the 20th century) and Rudolph Kunett, the president of the Pierre Smirnoff.
Martin and Kunett were having their shots and in their minds, they were thinking that what will happen if their two shots join Morgan’s ginger beer with a squeeze of lemon? As soon as Marin and Kunett shared their idea with Morgan, he ordered ice and three cups. After this, what do you think? Yes! Three of them mixed shots with ginger beer and squeezed lemon in it and three of them were now ready to taste it from their own cups. One, two and three, they took it down and felt good and hence named it, Russian Mule.
Russian Mule Recipe

Russian Mule is often served in copper mugs. The reason behind this is that, the ingredients in Russian Mule are acidic, hence, it creates a problem when we use traditional copper mugs, as copper starts dissolving into acidic solutions.
