You’ve gotten the swirl ice cream from the machine before. That blend of chocolate and vanilla is delectable, a perfect mix of not too much chocolate or vanilla so you satisfy both sides of your taste buds.
These two ice creams (adapted from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams) both take the familiar combo up a notch. Dark chocolate gives keeps the frozen treat from getting too sweet, while the use of a whole vanilla bean split with insides torn out and simmered in the milk base gives an authentic vanilla smell and flavor that no processed “vanilla extract” from the grocery store will ever give you.
