It seems like every month I hear about a new brewery that’s opening up in Indianapolis and the surrounding area. I just visited the grand opening of Indiana City Brewing, located in one of Indianapolis’ historic buildings that used to be a bottling company. It’s to the point where any list on the Internet that compiles all of the breweries in one place is constantly out of date, with new tap rooms and breweries opening up all over the place.
Events like Fishers On Tap are great because I have the opportunity to try out several breweries (and several of their beers) all in one place. People who work with beer LOVE to talk about beer, so it’s also great to ask them questions about their brewing process, ingredients they use, what types of beer they love, and anything else that comes to mind.

Craft Beer for a Cause
As someone who works for a nonprofit, I enjoy seeing events like Fishers On Tap because they are created on behalf of nonprofits. My nonprofit has a partnership with the Rotary Club of Indianapolis, and they have created events on our behalf and donated a portion of the proceeds to us. Nonprofits have few resources to create events on our own, so when an organization decides to do all of the heavy lifting and offer us a check, we’re definitely interested in partnering with them. Craft beer tantalizes the tastebuds for many different age groups and demographics, which means more and more people can be introduced to the mission of the organization.
The Rotary Club of Fishers supports the Fishers and Hamilton County community by redistributing the proceeds from the event back into the local schools, shelters, food and clothing pantries, and numerous women, men, and children support organizations. Since 1992, the Rotary Club of Fishers has donated over $680,000 to over 85 non-profit service sectors. Now THAT is how you make a difference.
Of course, events can’t happen without sponsors – many thanks to the Financial Center Federal Credit Union, Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, Current in Fishers and the Town of Fishers Indiana for their generous support.
What you can expect
Back in February I attended the indoor Fishers on Tap event and had a great time. What’s more fun than being surrounded by people who not only love beer, but want to support the community, too? MBP Catering hit the nail on the head with their appetizers – from creamy macaroni and cheese with gren onions to spicy shrimp cocktail, these bites paired perfectly with the beer and provided much needed nourishment.
MBP Catering will be back this year, along with delicious treats from these new vendors:
- Ruth’s Chris Steak House
- Sullivan’s Steakhouse
- Simeri’s Italian Restaurant
- Detour American Grille
- Extreme Pizza
- Wolfie’s Den
And of course, you need to know about the beer. Here’s what you can plan on sipping:

- Sun King Brewing Company
- Daredevil Brewing Co.
- Flat 12 Bierwerks
- Upland Brewing Company
- Fountain Square Brewing Company
- Brugge Brasserie
- Big Woods Brewing Company
