I love my pups, but I’ve never made treats for them before. As I learn to treat myself better through food, I figured I ought to do the same for them, too.
Dollar and Brandy were so excited, it’s almost like they knew what was going into the mixer was for them.
And with it being so close to Valentine’s Day, I just had to use the heart shaped cookie cutter.
Peanut Butter and Applesauce Dog Treats
Makes at least 3 dozen treats
Ingredients:
- 1 1/4 cups creamy peanut butter
- 1 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix all of the ingredients together in a large bowl. Not everything will come together well since there’s no egg for binding, so add more applesauce or peanut butter if necessary.
Flour a table or working surface, then begin to roll out the dough. You may want to do it in batches.
Using a cookie cutter, cut out the treats and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone sheet.
Pop em in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until browned slightly. Let cool completely and store in an airtight container or plastic bag.
