Thanks to Twitter, I was invited to a sneak peek of the new Earth Fare grocery store at Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville, Indiana which opens on Wednesday, November 7.
Tamre and I had the lovely experience of visiting Earth Fare yesterday, and we couldn’t be more excited about this awesome store!
In Indianapolis, we have a Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Fresh Market. Believe it or not, each is worth it for their own individual items, depending on what you’re looking for.
Earth Fare’s intentions spread far beyond providing quality groceries. Committed to the community, Earth Fare offers a Family Dinner Nights on Thursdays from 4-8pm, where up to 6 kids eat FREE with the purchase of an adult meal of $5 or more. Overall, they feed more that 4,000 families a week.
When you walk into the store, you notice these boards hanging above your heads, offering you tidbits of information about the food you’re about to purchase. The “Food Philosophy” of Earth Fare explains that they source food as close to the ground as it gets to guarantee their customers won’t find anything that contains high fructose corn syrup, artificial color, preservatives, flavors, sweeteners or color, no antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones in the fresh meats and dairy, as well as no bleach or bromated flours.
Despite all of that, Earth Fare is packed from wall to wall with their meat and seafood counter, dozens of fresh coffee beans and teas, cheeses, baking and grain isles that will surprise you at every turn.
The Food Philosophy is apparent all throughout the store, along with the motto “we won’t call it local unless it came from 100 miles away.” I appreciate that honesty.
The bulk section had a great mix of sweets, nuts, grains, flours and legumes. Buy by the cup or the pound.
Great price on olive oil. Love that they sell it in the tin instead of the clear plastic containers, which allows sunlight to penetrate the oil.
I drooled over the coffee counter. Whole beans and individual bags were priced reasonably – I had to stick my head into the container and take a whiff before walking by.
Admiring some crisp, fresh whiskey pickles.
With over 300 varieties of cheese to choose from, you may have a hard time deciding what to get. Earth Fare will cut a block of cheese to any size you like, in case you decide you only want a small slice.
One of the great things about Earth Fare was that as we walked around to learn about the store, Kristi would pull things off the shelf and ask us to taste some chocolate covered peanuts and dark chocolate peanut butter cups. She explained that customers may ask to sample any food item in the store so they can try before they purchase.
More Food Philosophy as we walked through the baked goods section. Unfortunately they weren’t baking bread just yet – another good reason to stop by for the opening.
